2 Wed  "Sushi Party 101"   HomeCooks Culinary Adventures  Jim Light  $55.  6:30pm   You will learn to make sushi well enough to have your own sushi party at home, I promise, cross my heart! We will debunk all of the sushi "mysteries" in this three hour class. 4 Fri          "Cinco De Mayo"         HomeCooks Culinary Adventures     Jim Light  $50. 6:30 PM.  Party Time! Excellent! You will start your evening making Chi-Chi's, a festive drink with pineapple and coconut. Then you'll get some grilling technique as we prepare stuffed Flank steaks with Chimichurri Sauce. 7 Mon       "Thrill of the Grill"       HomeCooks Culinary Adventures      Jim Light    $50.  6:30pm  Steaks, chicken, seafood-this class has it all and we will be grillin' till the cows come home! There is nothing you will ever need to know about grilling that isn't taught in this class. You will learn about marinades, dry rubs, brining technique, and will eat rather well too. 14 Mon      "Spring Paella"          HomeCooks Culinary Adventures     Jim Light     $50. 6:30pm  The unofficial national dish of Spain, paella makes a fantastic main course for entertaining. Once you've prepped the components a couple of hours ahead, the finished product come together in about 30 minutes. 16 Wed     " Glazed Pork Lion     HomeCooks Culinary Adventures      Jim Light     $45. 6:30pm       Learn to create big flavor with healthy aromatic ingredients. This popular pork entrée is served in The Culinary Institute of America's health-conscious St Andrews Café. Certain pork cuts are very lean. Teamed with the glaze and onion marmalade, the flavor is incredible. The marmalade can be served with grilled chicken with equal effect. This class teaches classic hot potato salad making and some knife skills along with sauté technique.   jim@homecooks.net            

17Thu "Rose Wine Pinko! (or how I learned that rose wine can be seriously good and seriously food friendly"    $25. 6pm Sadly, White Zinfandel did for Rosé wine what 'The Bell' did for Mexican food ( i.e. made it available to the masses, but misrepresents what it really is).  Rosé wine is one of the most refreshing treats of spring and summer.  There are numerous styles - all of which taste great and pair surprisingly well with a number of foods.  Taste 5 different rosé wines with a variety of food flavors. basicjuice.com

24 Thu     "Boot Camp 105" "Steaming/Heart Healthy"  Kimball Distributing Cathie Mooers Hands-on $45.  6pm    “Steaming/ Heart Healthy”    Steaming is one of the oldest ways to cook; we over look it’s bounty of good flavor and health.  We are all looking for ways to feel our best.  Steaming is a great technique to lower calories and fat in our meals.  Rice will be discussed tonight, it is one of the most consumed foods in the world. 1 Fri      "BBQ Grilled Pizza"        HomeCooks Culinary Adventures     Jim Light  $45.  6:30pm        During this fun class, you will learn to make pizza dough at home, top it with sauces, condiments, meats and cheeses, then BBQ grill pizzas outside on your covered grill. 6 Wed   "Fire Roasted Strip Steaks"    HomeCooks Culinary Adventures     Jim Light  $50.  6:30pm         Our salsa ingredients will be smoke-grilled outside then assembled in a blender. We start out with a knock-your-socks-off Créole Seafood Gumbo where you will learn the secrets of making dark roux, the key to this famous seafood stew, which is loaded with shrimp, crabs, filé powder, and oysters. About The Instructors

Beau Jarvis-Owner Of Basic Juice- Everyday, all over the world, real people enjoy wine for almost any reason.  Wine is part of Life, and it often reflects the area of the world from which it originates.  Beau is first and foremost a wine enthusiast, he has achieved Sommelier certification through the Sommelier Society of America.  He also holds the advanced Certificate in Wine and Spirits, with distinction, from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust of England.  In addition to these qualifications, he has completed intensive wine training at the French Institute in New York City.  He has also successfully completed the first level of testing with the internationally respected Court of Master Sommeliers.  When it comes to wine, he constantly experiments- enjoying discovering great wine and food pairings.  He strives to take a fun, unique approach to wine and do away with wine snobbery.  After all, wine is basically just  fermented juice.  We at Kimball's agree with Beau, he is a great teacher.

Chef Jim Light- Owner of HomeCooks Culinary Adventures-  Jim Light, a life long culinarian, a Honors Graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America Hyde Park, New York.  He is also a recipient of the Metal of Merit, presented by preeminent honor society, L'Academie de Gastronomie Brillat-Savarin, Society within the Chaine des Rotisseurs.  Jim has cooked professionally in fine dining establishments located in New York, Utah, and Wyoming.

Chef Cathie Mooers-  Cathie is the in-house Chef for Kimball Distributing.  Her certification is with the American Personal and Private Chef Business Academy.  She has been a culinary teacher for almost 8 years, coming from Nothing To It, Culinary Center for the non-vocational cook....where she has worked with well known celebrity chefs, John Ash-Fetzer Winery, Tommy Birdwell-Coyote Cafe, Jennifer Bushman-culinary instructor-cookbook author, Hugh Carpenter-cookbook author and James Peterson to name a few. She brings a vast amount knowledge to Kimball's, her unique style of teaching through her series of "BootCamps" makes "real Life" cooking (home cooking) fun with an easy to understand casual style.  She believes with good technique with good food anybody can be a GREAT cook.

Diane Sheya-Owner of Ivey House Herbs  Diane started Ivy House Herbs because of her affection for food and entertaining.  Diane started Ivy House Herbs in 1999 and began conducting cooking classes and educating students about growing their own culinary gardens.  Diane is one of the weekly Chefs for Fox 13's "Live at Eleven"  news program.  Wild Oats sponsors Diane in her monthly cooking classes at Kimball's, and has  been featured in both the Salt Lake Tribune and The Dessert News Food Section.  She brings a fun and festive teaching method to Kimball's.
